Filter presses are designed to separate solid and liquid in relatively short span of time by using the principle of pressure feeding. For over 150 years now, filter press has been effectively used in every industrial filtration application. Arranged in a series of filter plates & frames and recessed plates, there is a filter medium between these plates. Then, through the feeding pump, we force the liquid inside the filter press and the solid is trapped inside the medium between the plates. The solution coming through the filter press, called the filtrate, will be very pure. The solid held per square feet by the filter press is more than any other filter press. Manual or hydraulic operated closer is required.

In conventional filter presses the entire filtration operation is mainly manual but in auto filter press, the filtration is hydraulic system controlled or computer controlled i.e. completely automatic.
